A HISTORY OF ANDERIDA WRITERS FROM THE YEAR 2023

2023
2023 Following the reduction in the subscription because Covid caused meetings to be cancelled, it was agreed that the annual subscription should revert to £26 a year, due at the AGM on the second Tuesday of April each year.
Members paying at least £10 of this subscription prior to the AGM were eligible to vote at the AGM.
Tributes were given at the AGM to the late Rod Colley and to Dave Wells, unable to attend due to poor health. Dave was made an honorary member.
Chairman Tony Flood reported that members had given helpful critiques to those reading extracts from their work, with our best-selling author Tamara McKinley giving particularly helpful feedback. But, in the main, it had fallen on the same few people to serve on the committee and in some cases hold two or three positions. Fortunately, Christine Racher and John Silverton were stepping up to fill the positions of secretary and assistant secretary following Heather Flood's decision to stand down as secretary for health reasons.
Thanks to the arrangement we have with the Hydro Hotel to hold meetings without paying any hire fees, Anderida had a very healthy bank balance of £973.78.
During the year both Tony and Tamara held book signings for their new books, coupled with Anderida meetings. That option is open to other members who bring out new books, including the collective of seven or eight writers combining in a project launched by John Newton.
Treasurer Francis Wait reported that we ended the year with a small profit of £314..20p, but this did not include a payment yet to be made to Alistair Colley of £205 for maintaining our Website because his invoice had yet to be received.
It was agreed that Anderida open an account with Metro Bank because Francis said they would give a better service than Barclays. But we will keep our Barclays account open with a small balance in it.
